# Connectors

Upseam has two connectors. Each page lists what the connector may read, what
it writes and how to remove it.

:::cards Connectors

- [GitHub App](github-app.md)
  The permissions Upseam asks for, what it reads and what it writes.
- [Slack](slack.md)
  Reports and approval buttons in a channel.

## What a connector may do

Both connectors are optional in different ways. The GitHub App is how Upseam
reads your code and opens pull requests. Slack only carries messages and
approvals; Upseam works without it, and the dashboard issue in your repository
carries the same information.

To run Upseam without any connector, see
[Run Upseam without the App](without-the-app.md).
